A beater.

The Usual
As many of my friends already know, I am a G Shock Suckee. Yup, I am a sucker for G Shock. As I live, born and bred in Singapore, almost all of my shocks are bought locally. Fortunately, I find that local prices can be very, very competitive. As compared, to lets say, Australia. However, when it comes to variety and range, well, its not that great, its good, but not that great, especially when you want the older models.

The Beater
I have about 10 shocks and as many in the world know, each and everyone of them, can take the rigours of daily lives, no questions. However, they seem to be a bit, itsy, weenie a bit too precious to be worn even on a full day. So, I decided, I need a beater. One in which its cheap, and nondescript and would be a true g shock, in looks. I decided to give amazon.com a go.

Free...
Amazon has this new-ish shipping policy that if my order totalled up to USD$125, I get free shipping, all the way to Singapore. Of course, there are other cock and bull bits, but you can look them up under the cock and bull section of amazon.com. As I surfed the pages, I glance upon a 6900 model. Its under USD$80, and it has solar and multiband 6. Now, thats a very competitive price. A search here www.watchspree.com would indicate that the average price is around SGD$100. And they do not have the model with solar and multi band 6. Without waiting, and without considering the color combination, I carted it. Together with a blue, jelly banded baby g for my wife, it came 3 days later than the expected arrival date.

Its on my wrist
Its on my wrist now almost very day, well not the weekend since, I have to "air" the other Gs too. I like it being on my wrist.

Soft
I don't know whether this is with respect to the model of the watch of the where the watch was sold, but the band is very, very soft. The positive display makes viewing of the information very easy with the fonts being very legible too. I like this, and I am glad this is my beater. Its very functional and does not look expensive, which of course its not.

FULL
The battery level is always on High, a feat I have yet to achieve with my other Tough Solar shocks. I guess, I have to display them to the sun more often.

Conclusion
All in all, I am very happy with the 6900 that I got. Its not as handsome as the GA100 that I have, but at least it can tell me the time better at night.

G Shock 8900

G Shock 8900 by Nor Salman

I really have to put a stop to this. I have with me, approximately 11 g shocks. It will be great if I have 11 wrists, but as we all know, we wear only 1 at a time. I just bought another, a 6900, which I am wearing it right now.

Anyway, this was bought in Mustafa. Singapore's only 24 hours departmental store. I chose this because of the gold tinted display. The numerals are in gold and I thought it was unique. The display is clear, the numerals are large and the backlight is superb white.

Mid day

It's mid day. And I am slumped. I did not know an additional 15 min of walking can do this to me. I am so tired.

Just came from grocery shopping. Today's damage is$123.55. Bought green papaya. A friend told me to dice it up sans skin and boiled it for 10 min. Add green tea for another 10 min. Drink the concoctions. I hope it will help with the pain.
